Role Summary
The Logistics Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring that raw manufacturing supplies and finished custom components arrive at production plants and client sites seamlessly and on schedule. This individual will coordinate inbound freight from suppliers, manage international trade compliance, and oversee complex outbound distribution—including cross-border shipments and oversized project site deliveries. The role bridges the gap between procurement, customs brokers, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners.
Customs & Cross-Border Compliance
- Partner with customs brokers to ensure rapid clearance of international shipments.
- Prepare border documentation including commercial invoices, NAFTA/CUSMA certificates, and HS codes.
- Resolve clearance delays by providing immediate documentation to border authorities.
- Track tariff changes to help the procurement team estimate true landed costs.
- Maintain import logs to ensure full compliance with CBSA and CBP regulations.
Inbound & Outbound Freight Management
- Plan shipments to coordinate inbound raw components and final acoustic system distribution.
- Secure freight by sourcing, vetting, and booking heavy-haul flatbeds or specialized carriers.
- Audit paperwork including bills of lading, material test reports, and transport invoices.
- Resolve issues regarding transit delays, freight damage claims, and routing bottlenecks.
Project Site & Plant Coordination
- Align deliveries with tight construction project schedules and restricted job site hours.
- Distribute materials cleanly between multiple Parklane fabrication locations and warehouses.
- Track heavy tools and rented equipment moving from storage directly out to field teams.
- Maintain contact with site installation supervisors to prevent field downtime.
Inventory Control & Systems Management
- Log inventory data consistently within Parklane's ERP system (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365).
- Verify accuracy of warehouse goods received against active manufacturing purchase orders.
- Organize storage layout to maximize raw material accessibility and safe equipment retrieval.
- Track KPIs involving freight cost savings, transit times, and delivery punctuality.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years in manufacturing, industrial construction, or steel fabrication logistics.
- Trade Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Canadian/US customs regulations and HS classification.
- Technical Skills: Highly proficient in ERP software (D365 preferred) and advanced Excel functions.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of road freight logistics, flatbed load securement, and 3PL metrics.
- Problem-Solving: Proven lateral-thinking abilities to adjust transit plans under high pressure.
- Communication: Exceptional collaborative and negotiation skills used with diverse vendor structures.
