Position Summary
We are seeking a Engineering Student for a summer position based in Port Perry. This role is ideal for a student currently enrolled in an engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or related technical program who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in product design, manufacturing support, documentation, and local exhaust ventilation systems.
The Design Engineering Student will support the engineering and sales teams by assisting with SolidWorks models, drawings, BOMs, documentation, product data, and order support. This is a seasonal summer position, with the opportunity to continue part-time during the school year based on performance, availability, and company needs.
Responsibilities
- Use SolidWorks to assist with 3D models of products and system components.
- Create and update basic specification, assembly, and manufacturing drawings.
- Support Sales Engineers with drawings, 3D models, and technical information.
- Assist with BOM creation, part number updates, and drawing organization.
- Help verify product details, inventory information, and order documentation.
- Support the flow of customer orders by helping confirm parts, drawings, and required documentation are accurate and complete.
- Assist with SolidWorks model cleanup and organization of file libraries.
- Help maintain internal databases and product information on Lev-co.com.
- Assist with owner’s manuals, brochures, mounting instructions, and other technical documentation.
- Support the creation and updating of SOPs, checklists, and recurring task documentation.
- Work with team members to support production, purchasing, and sales activities.
- Learn and apply the fundamentals of local exhaust ventilation systems.
- Participate in project reviews and internal discussions as required.
- Perform other engineering support tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Technician/Technologist, or a related technical program.
- Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software is preferred.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and interest in hands-on product design.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stay organized and manage assigned tasks.
- Comfortable working in both office and shop/manufacturing environments.
- Experience with BOMs, drawings, manufacturing, or technical documentation is an asset.
- Interest in ventilation, air quality, mechanical systems, or manufacturing is an asset.
