Position Summary
Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Casual Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, families, visitors, and staff. This role plays a key part in supporting infection prevention and control practices while contributing to a positive resident experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily housekeeping and environmental cleaning duties throughout resident rooms, common areas, and service areas.
- Follow established cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing procedures to support infection prevention and control standards.
- Prepare resident rooms for new admissions and transfers.
- Maintain resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality while performing duties.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, supply shortages, or equipment issues.
- Work collaboratively with team members while providing excellent customer service to residents, families, and visitors.
- Participate in mandatory education and in-service training programs.
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in healthcare, long-term care, retirement living, hospitality, or a related environment.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safe work practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of infection prevention and control practices is an asset.
- Health and Safety certification is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
This position requires extended periods of standing and walking, frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment.

Pre-Employment Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to provide:
- A current Police Vulnerable Sector Check .
- Proof of compliance with the Home's Immunization and Communicable Disease Surveillance Policy.
- Proof of a two-step TB test (or chest x-ray, if applicable) in accordance with Ministry requirements.
