Mid Island Co-op is hiring 2 Gas Bar Area Managers, in Nanaimo, British Columbia

Things you’ll do:
Reporting to the Gas Bar Division Manager, the Gas Bar Area Manager will:
- Represent Mid Island Co-op by being an ambassador and demonstrating our values of Excellence, Community, and Teamwork.
- Provide leadership to managers and team members at multiple gas bar locations to ensure successful operations (including meeting or exceeding budgeted goals), as well as mentoring and coaching to support skill and career development.
- Facilitate and deliver training to area employees.
- Recruit, select and train site managers and support the recruitment of assistant managers.
- Provide coaching, direction and follow-up around key business initiatives to managers via regular unscheduled and scheduled site visits.
- Plan, monitor, and manage a variety of internal projects from initiation to completion.
- Conduct reporting period financial reviews with each site manager to ensure full understanding of plan/budget and P&L.
- Collaborate with other department managers to resolve issues, manage projects, review procedures for improvement, etc.

- Minimum 8 years of experience including 5 years of supervisory/management experience.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven understanding of store operations, budgets and reporting, strong financial management, planning, organizational and analytical skills and intermediate project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple departments or locations effectively.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety and food safety standards. A current food safety certificate would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and retail management systems.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs.
- Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel between locations as required.
