SCHOOL OVERVIEW
The Laurel School is a boutique early learning private school located in North York, ON, offering enriched, individualized programs for children from Toddler to Grade 6.
We have recently opened up a second campus for Elementary students, and are expanding to Grade 6. We are looking for passionate and dedicated educators to grow and build with us for the 2026-27 school year.

SUMMARY OF ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our team for the 2026-27 school year. This role is ideal for an educator who values both academic excellence and whole-child development with the opportunity to apply your own unique teaching style, and build students for the real world with modern curriculum areas.
At The Laurel School, teachers are empowered to be creative, supported in their professional growth, and encouraged to build strong relationships with students and families. You will play a key role in shaping a positive learning environment where children feel confident, supported, and inspired to learn. Some responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with our curriculum
- Create a balanced program including academics, creative activities, and hands on learning
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom where students feel confident and supported
- Establish routines, manage classroom behaviour, and promote social-emotional growth
- Track student progress, maintain records, and prepare report cards
- Communicate regularly with parents (in-person & app based platforms)
- Support students with diverse learning needs, including IEPs
- Prepare classroom materials, maintain an organized space, and ensure daily documentation
- Attend and guide students within field trips, swimming and other additional programs
- Collaborate with staff, mentor placement students, and participate in school events
PAY
- Base pay amount will be dependent on the applicant's years of experience & certifications.
DETAILS
- 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, scheduled within the times of 7:30am - 5:30pm
- Fixed term contract from September 2026 to June 2027 (with the opportunity for renewal for future school years as well as opportunities for positions in the summer)

REQUIREMENTS
- College or University Degree in Education or related field (Ontario Teaching Certification (OCT) is an asset but not required)
- Standard First Aid & CPR (Level C with AED)
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Minimum 2 year experience teaching in a private school or elementary setting
- Experience providing individualized support to students with diverse learning needs to help them thrive academically and socially
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
