JOB SUMMARY
The Events Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of inclusive, accessible, and community‑centered events that advance CMHA Vernon & District’s mission.
This role works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, people with lived and living experience, community partners, and vendors to ensure events are welcoming, well‑organized, and grounded in equity, dignity, and respect.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
· Plan and coordinate community, fundraising, educational, and internal events from concept through completion.
· Develop timelines, workplans, and checklists to support smooth delivery of events.
· Coordinate logistics including venues, accessibility needs, catering, audio‑visual supports, and registration.
· Support event budgets, expense tracking, and financial reconciliation in alignment with organizational procedures.
· Liaise with community partners, volunteers, speakers, and vendors using collaborative and inclusive practices.
· Support promotion of events using accessible and inclusive communications.
· Provide on‑site coordination and problem‑solving during events.
· Ensure events reflect CMHA values, respectful‑workplace expectations, and risk‑management requirements.
· Maintain a comprehensive understanding of CMHA Vernon programs and services to effectively promote offerings, communicate accurate information to diverse audiences, and ensure alignment between event objectives and organizational priorities.
· Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training & Experience
· Education or training in event coordination, communications, administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
· Experience supporting or coordinating events in a nonprofit, community‑based, or health‑related setting.
· Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with diverse communities, including people with lived and living experience.
· Demonstrated experience in securing sponsorships, including identifying potential partners, developing proposals, and cultivating relationships to support event goals and organizational initiatives.
· Valid Drivers License
Skills and Competencies
· Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
· Comfort using Microsoft 365 and basic event or registration tools.
· Basic proficiency in Canva and social media platforms to support the creation and promotion of event materials and digital communications.
· Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships, engage stakeholders, and provide a welcoming, professional experience.
· Commitment to equity, inclusion, trauma‑informed practice, and collaborative teamwork.
Working Conditions
· Some evening and weekend work may be required.
· Work may occur at community venues across the region.
· Physical set‑up and take‑down duties may be required within safe limits.
