The Job Shoppe is hiring a Recruitment Assistant to join our team in Tecumseh, Ontario. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in recruitment, customer service, and office administration. You will support our team in delivering a positive candidate experience while learning the fundamentals of staffing and workforce operations.

Wage: $20.00/hour (30 hours per week)
Start Date: As early as June 10, 2026
Position Type: Seasonal – Full-Time (30 hours per week)
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Recruitment Assistant, you will support the recruitment team with candidate engagement, administrative tasks, and day-to-day office operations.
Responsibilities may include:
Candidate Support and Engagement
- Greet and assist walk-in applicants in a professional and welcoming manner
- Support job seekers with completing applications, resumes, and onboarding documents
- Schedule interviews, follow-ups, and orientation appointments
- Respond to general inquiries about job opportunities, shifts, and expectations
Recruitment and Screening Support
- Assist with initial candidate screenings, including application reviews and availability checks
- Conduct reference checks or employment verifications under supervision
- Update candidate profiles in ATS systems or internal trackers
Job Posting and Marketing
- Assist in creating and updating job postings on job boards and social media platforms
- Promote opportunities through community outreach and local channels
- Prepare recruitment materials such as flyers, sign-in sheets, and onboarding packages
Administrative and Office Support
- Maintain organized interview rooms and front office areas
- Assist with filing, scanning, photocopying, and document preparation
- Track attendance for orientations, training sessions, and events
Event and Program Support
- Assist with job fairs, hiring events, and outreach initiatives
- Help set up event materials and welcome participants
- Support youth employment programs with intake and attendance tracking
Communication and Customer Service
- Answer phones and direct calls appropriately
- Provide general information about services to candidates and community partners
- Send reminders for interviews, orientations, and document completion
Compliance and Documentation
- Collect required employment documents such as SIN, ID, and banking information
- Ensure forms are completed accurately before submission
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all privacy policies
Team Collaboration
- Support recruiters and internal teams with daily priorities
- Participate in team check-ins and meetings
- Contribute ideas to improve candidate experience and recruitment processes
