Responsibilities
Security Operations & Site Patrol
- Conduct regular foot patrols to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
- Monitor entrances, exits, common areas, parking facilities, and restricted locations.
- Enforce property rules, policies, and access control procedures professionally and consistently.
- Identify, assess, and report suspicious activity, hazards, and security concerns.
- Maintain a highly visible security presence to deter unauthorized activity and promote public safety.
Access Control & Security Monitoring
- Control access to the property by verifying tenants, visitors, contractors, and deliveries.
- Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment.
- Ensure only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
- Respond promptly to access control issues, alarms, and security breaches.
- Assist with line management and visitor flow during busy periods or special events.
Emergency Response & Incident Management
- Respond quickly and professionally to medical emergencies, alarms, disturbances, and security incidents.
- Provide First Aid, CPR, or AED assistance until emergency responders arrive.
- De-escalate conflicts and challenging situations using sound judgment and effective communication.
- Coordinate with police, fire, EMS, and property management during emergency situations.
- Follow all emergency response plans and standard operating procedures.
Customer Service & Professional Conduct
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional and approachable security presence.
- Respond to tenant, visitor, and client inquiries with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
- Build positive relationships with clients, employees, and members of the public.
- Represent the company with integrity, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset.
- Support daily site operations and assist with additional duties as assigned.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate daily activity logs, memo books, and incident reports.
- Investigate incidents and prepare detailed, objective reports.
- Report safety hazards, policy violations, and security concerns promptly.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
Required Qualifications
- Valid British Columbia Security Licence.
- Valid OFA Level 1 Certificate.
- Minimum 1 year of security experience.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods (8–12-hour shifts).
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-traffic environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-profile, commercial, retail, concierge, or corporate security.
- Experience with CCTV monitoring, access control systems, and incident reporting.
- Loss Prevention or Retail Security experience is considered an asset.
- Strong observational skills with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and high-pressure situations.
- Work in busy, public-facing environments requiring continuous situational awareness.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain a professional, highly visible security presence at all times.
- Deliver outstanding customer service while ensuring the safety and security of the property.
- Respond promptly and effectively to incidents and emergencies.
- Produce accurate, detailed, and timely reports.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, sound judgment, and strong situational awareness while upholding company standards.
Required Certification
- Valid British Columbia Security Licence.
