Job Purpose
Reporting to the Income Verification Supervisor, the Income Verification Analyst is responsible for reviewing and verifying customer income and employment information to support accurate lending decisions. The role involves analyzing documentation, contacting employers, calculating verified income, and confirming that applicants meet established payment-to-income (PTI) and debt service ratio (DSR) requirements based on approval parameters provided by the Credit department. The Income Verification Analyst operates within established procedures, follows defined rules and instructions, and escalates discrepancies, unresolved verifications, or non-routine issues in accordance with established guidelines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Income & Employment Verification
- Review income and employment documentation, including but not limited to, pay stubs, bank statements, letters of employment, and tax documentation submitted by dealerships.
- Contact employers by phone or email to verify income and employment details, making follow-up attempts as required up to established limits.
- Analyze verified information to calculate appropriate income amounts in accordance with established guidelines.
- Confirm customer eligibility against PTI and DSR requirements based on approval terms provided by the Credit department.
File Updates & Dealer Communication
- Provide timely updates to dealerships through messages, emails, or phone calls regarding the status of income verification files.
- Respond to dealer inquiries and requests related to income verification outcomes or outstanding documentation.
Support & Collaboration
- Assist team members with questions and provide feedback as part of day-to-day operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and cross-functional departments to support workflow alignment and file resolution.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
Experience:
- No prior experience is required; this is an entry-level position.
Skills:
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to type efficiently.
- Basic math comprehension.
Competencies:
- Attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing income documentation and completing calculations.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills when interacting with employers, dealers, and internal teams.
- Planning, organizing, and time management skills to manage multiple files and follow-up activities.
- Teamwork and collaboration to support shared workloads and day-to-day operations.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving to identify discrepancies and apply verification guidelines.
- Customer service orientation when communicating with external parties.
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and screen time.
- Requires sustained mental concentration, frequent task switching and multi-tasking under deadlines.
- No travel is required.
Shift Hours
- One late night per week (10:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Minimum one Saturday per month
- Regular schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
