PURPOSE The Program Facilitator is the energetic, on-the-ground force responsible for bringing the Camp Tidnish experience to life. Working alongside the Program Coordinator, this role creates the magic of camp by executing meaningful themes, leading accessible and engaging activities, and ensuring that all programs are dynamically adapted in the moment to meet the needs of campers and staff.
The Program Facilitator takes an accessibility-first approach to all programming—delivering and modifying activities in real time so every camper can fully participate. Working closely with the Program Coordinator, the Camp Director, and The Elevation Hub, this role drives the daily energy of camp, supports cabin staff during activities, and serves as a key instructional resource on the ground.
The Program Facilitator upholds and models the values, goals, and philosophy of Camp Tidnish and Easter Seals Nova Scotia, ensuring programs are inclusive, safe, well-organized, and executed smoothly. This role promotes high standards in all aspects of camp life, including camper engagement, conduct, communication, and professionalism.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience delivering, adapting, or facilitating camp or recreational programming
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a camp, education, or recreation setting
- Knowledge of inclusive and accessible recreation for people with disabilities is considered an asset
- Graduate of or currently enrolled in a program related to recreation, therapeutic recreation, education, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience working with persons with disabilities is considered an asset
- First Aid and CPR Level A or higher

- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage time effectively and transition smoothly between activities
- Creative, adaptable, and solution-focused, especially when modifying activities on the fly
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of The Elevation Hub
- Comfortable supporting and guiding camp counselors during program execution
- Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours to ensure program success
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direction of the Camp Director and working alongside the Program Coordinator, the Program Facilitator will:
Program Delivery & Camp Experience
- Lead the hands-on facilitation and execution of daily camper programs and camp-wide themes.
- Ensure all delivered activities are accessible, inclusive, and dynamically adapted to camper needs in the moment.
- Bring high energy to all program areas, ensuring activities are engaging, safe, and fun for all participants.
Staff Support & Collaboration
- Serve as the on-the-ground resource for counselors during activities, modeling excellent facilitation and camper engagement.
- Support cabin staff by providing clear instructions and assisting with camper transitions to and from program areas.
- Contribute to staff training sessions and daily briefings.
- Step in to assist with cabin or camper support as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
Operations & Logistics
- Work closely with the Program Coordinator on the daily setup, execution, and tear-down of program areas and special events.
- Actively monitor activity zones, ensuring safety protocols are followed and equipment is used properly.
- Keep the Program Coordinator and Camp Director informed of any concerns related to campers, staff, or programming flow.
- Support camper care and behavior management during program times when required.
Administration, Equipment & Evaluation
- Maintain program supply inventories, ensuring equipment is organized, safe, and well-maintained after each use.
- Assist the Program Coordinator with session preparations and gathering required materials.
- Provide regular feedback to the Program Coordinator regarding which activities are successful and which need structural improvement.
- Be fully familiar with and uphold the Camp Tidnish Staff Manual, policies, and procedures.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
Additional Information
- Room and board are included in pay.
- Staff are required to live on-site during camp sessions and be on call as needed to provide effective support for campers and staff.
- Hours of work align with a typical camp day, with additional hours required based on the responsibilities of the position.
