Description complète du poste

The Antigonish Chamber of Commerce is seeking an organized, energetic and dependable Events Coordinator for a four-month contract. The successful candidate will help plan and deliver Chamber events that support local businesses, strengthen community connections and provide value to Chamber members. The candidate will also be the principal staff person overseeing the Chamber's operations during the contract tenure, in concert with the Chamber Executive and Board of Directors.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who can manage details, communicate confidently with a wide range of people and take ownership of projects from planning through execution.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate Chamber events, including networking events, workshops, community events and other special initiatives.
Develop event plans, schedules, budgets and task lists.
Arrange venues, catering, equipment, entertainment and other event requirements.
Recruit and coordinate sponsors, vendors, volunteers and event participants.
Communicate with Chamber members, community partners and other stakeholders.
Assist with event promotion through email, social media and other marketing channels.
Provide on-site coordination, including setup, event delivery and cleanup.
Track expenses, sponsorship commitments and revenues.
Support the Chamber Executive and Board of Directors during Board and committee meetings.
Oversee the work of other staff (e.g. student position)
Support other Chamber activities and administrative work as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience in event planning, project coordination, hospitality, marketing or a related field.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Confidence working with business owners, community partners, sponsors and volunteers.
Good working knowledge of email, social media and common office software.
Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends if required.
Access to reliable transportation.

Experience working with a business association, nonprofit organization or community group would be an asset but is not required.

Contract Details

Contract length: Four months
Hours: Approximately 30–40 hours per week, depending on the event schedule
Compensation: $25 per hour
Location: Antigonish, Nova Scotia, with some flexibility depending on operational needs
Start date: September 1, 2026.
