Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse Manager in the day-to-day operation of our distribution centre. This is a working leadership role that combines hands-on warehouse responsibilities with team leadership, inventory accuracy, operational planning, and continuous improvement.
You will help coordinate daily warehouse activities, support and develop team members, ensure orders are processed accurately and efficiently, and maintain the high standards our customers expect. In the absence of the Warehouse Manager, you will help lead daily warehouse operations and provide direction to the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Warehouse Manager in coordinating daily warehouse operations.
- Lead by example while participating in receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory activities.
- Assist with planning daily workflow and assigning priorities to meet shipping deadlines.
- Coach, mentor, and support warehouse associates while fostering a positive and accountable team culture.
- Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
- Monitor productivity, order accuracy, and quality standards.
- Support inventory control, cycle counts, stock organization, and inventory investigations.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and ensure safe work practices are followed.
- Use warehouse management systems and handheld RF scanners to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Assist with maintaining warehouse equipment, supplies, and overall facility organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and warehouse processes.
- Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Provide leadership and operational support during the Warehouse Manager's absence.
- Perform other duties as required to support warehouse operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations.
- Experience leading or supervising a warehouse team.
- Forklift certification and experience operating warehouse equipment.
- Experience using warehouse management systems and handheld RF scanners.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work throughout the day.
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a collaborative leadership style.
