Job Summary:
The Director, Information Technology provides enterprise leadership across technology operations, transformation, cybersecurity, data, and service delivery, ensuring technology investments advance business strategy, resilience, and performance. The role is accountable for translating strategic priorities into an integrated technology agenda, strengthening governance and execution discipline, and positioning IT as a trusted partner to the business.
The ideal candidate demonstrates executive leadership, sound judgment, operational rigor, and the ability to align people, platforms, and priorities in support of enterprise objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
IT Leadership and Team Management
- Provide leadership across the IT function, setting direction, structure, and accountability across business relationship management, enterprise applications, data, architecture, infrastructure, support, security, and project delivery.
- Build leadership capability, develop talent, and ensure the organization has the capacity and expertise to meet evolving business and operational demands.
- Establish a high-performance culture grounded in ownership, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Align team priorities and decision-making with enterprise strategy, service commitments, and execution needs.
Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance
- Provide leadership for enterprise technology risk, cybersecurity, and compliance.
- Ensure appropriate controls are in place for identity and access, data protection, endpoint security, remote access, backup and recovery, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Oversee risk reporting, remediation planning, audit support, and compliance with relevant policies and standards.
- Embed security and control considerations into solution design, vendor decisions, project delivery, and day-to-day operations.
IT Strategy Execution and Business Alignment
- Translate enterprise strategy into a clear technology roadmap, investment priorities, and execution plans.
- Ensure technology initiatives are aligned with business objectives, operating model needs, scalability, and risk management requirements.
- Partner with senior business leaders to shape priorities, assess opportunities, and advance transformation, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Guide demand management, business case development, stakeholder alignment, and realization of business value.
- Research and leverage public funding opportunities (such as federal or provincial innovation and digital adoption grants) to finance enterprise IT upgrades.
IT Service Delivery and Operational Excellence
- Lead the delivery of stable, secure, and responsive technology services across infrastructure, applications, and end-user support.
- Drive operational excellence through disciplined service management, measurable performance standards, and a strong customer experience focus.
- Oversee service performance, recurring issues, and improvement priorities using clear metrics, trend analysis, and management reporting.
- Provide leadership during major incidents and ensure effective escalation, resolution, communication, and post-incident improvement.
Project and Portfolio Management
- Provide oversight of the technology portfolio, including intake, prioritization, governance, delivery, and reporting.
- Ensure projects are aligned with strategic objectives, business value, enterprise risk, resource capacity, and operational readiness.
- Establish consistent delivery disciplines across predictive, agile, and hybrid methods to improve execution quality and transparency.
- Maintain visibility into progress, issues, dependencies, and outcomes through executive reporting, dashboards, and review forums.
Business Systems and Application Management
- Provide strategic oversight of core business systems and applications, ensuring they remain reliable, fit for purpose, and aligned with evolving business requirements.
- Oversee application support, enhancement, testing, release management, and lifecycle decisions with a focus on resilience, business continuity, and efficient business process.
- Partner with business leaders to assess system value, risk, and performance, and to prioritize improvements and modernization opportunities.
- Guide application roadmap decisions, including rationalization, modernization, and retirement of legacy platforms.
Data, Reporting, and Financial Systems Oversight
- Provide oversight of company data, analytics, reporting, and financial systems to support decision quality, control, and operational effectiveness.
- Advance data governance, quality, integration, access control, and reporting reliability across the organization.
- Oversee enabling capabilities such as ERP reporting, business intelligence, data platforms, master data, and financial systems support.
- Partner with Finance and business stakeholders to strengthen reporting processes, system performance, and user adoption.
Solution Architecture, Innovation, and Technology Roadmap
- Lead enterprise solution architecture and technology planning to ensure platforms and integrations support long-term business direction.
- Ensure technology decisions are scalable, secure, supportable, and economically sound, with appropriate alignment to enterprise standards.
- Assess emerging technologies and innovation opportunities, including automation, cloud, AI, and analytics, through the lens of business value and practical application.
- Guide proof-of-concepts, vendor assessments, and modernization initiatives that strengthen future readiness.
Vendor, Contract, and Financial Management
- Oversee strategic relationships with key technology vendors, service providers, software partners, and outsourced delivery partners.
- Ensure vendor performance, service quality, commercial value, and contractual obligations are actively managed.
- Support technology budgeting, licensing, capital planning, and cost optimization in line with business priorities.
- Guide investment and sourcing decisions that balance reliability, security, scalability, and enterprise value.
Governance, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and strengthen governance across technology investment, prioritization, architecture, security, service delivery, and execution.
- Provide clear, decision-ready reporting on technology performance, portfolio status, risk, service levels, and improvement priorities.
- Maintain practical governance artifacts, documentation, and operating disciplines that support consistency, accountability, and continuity.
- Drive continuous improvement and increasing maturity across the IT operating model, portfolio disciplines, service management practices, and control environment.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience.
- 5+ years managing IT teams, managers, technical specialists, vendors, and cross-functional groups.
- Strong experience with enterprise applications, infrastructure, service management, cybersecurity, data/reporting, project delivery as well as enterprise-wide legacy system replacements.
- Proven ability to align IT operations and projects with business strategy.
- Experience with ERP, CRM, HCM, EPM, BI/reporting, integration, cloud, and enterprise support environments.
- Strong project and portfolio management experience.
- Expertise in vendor management, budgeting, governance, and stakeholder management.
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical issues into business impact.
- Ability to lead through change, ambiguity, competing priorities, and operational pressure.
- Previous International work experience would be considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multi-business-unit, or multi-location environments.
- Experience with Sage, Acumatica, Builder Lynx, Rise, Power BI, Microsoft 365, SQL, Halo and integration platforms.
- Familiarity with ITIL, COBIT, NIST, Agile, or hybrid delivery practices.
- Experience building or maturing IT governance, PMO, business relationship management, cybersecurity reporting, or data governance capabilities.
- Experience leading digital transformation, ERP implementation, business process improvement, or application modernization programs.
Pay: $160,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
