Payroll & Administrative Assistant

Jansen DeWolde Chartered Professional Accountants is looking for a Payroll & Administrative Assistant to join our team.

Jansen DeWolde is a local accounting firm that takes pride in providing excellent client service while maintaining a positive and flexible work environment. We offer health benefits to all employees, and our team enjoys Fridays off from June 15 to September 15.

This role includes front-office reception, client service, payroll preparation, light bookkeeping, and general administrative support. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with deadlines, and interested in developing payroll and bookkeeping skills in a professional accounting office.

This is a full-time position. Regular hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During our summer schedule, from June 15 to September 15, the office is closed on Fridays.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist with administrative, payroll, bookkeeping, and client service work. Responsibilities will include:

· Preparing semi-monthly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll for clients

· Assisting with light bookkeeping for clients

· Communicating with clients to obtain payroll and bookkeeping information

· Greeting clients in a professional, positive, and helpful manner

· Answering and directing phone calls and emails

· Collating and assembling tax returns, financial statements, and other client deliverables

· Filing and organizing client information

· Maintaining office supplies and helping keep the office organized and presentable

· Providing general administrative support to the accounting team as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Strong attention to detail, especially when working with numbers

· Strong organizational skills

· Ability to multi-task and complete assignments within deadlines

· Excellent customer service skills

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Experience with Microsoft Office

· Payroll or bookkeeping experience would be a strong asset

· Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, Paymate, or similar software would be an asset

· We are willing to train the right candidate, but the successful candidate must be comfortable learning payroll and bookkeeping processes

Compensation

Compensation will depend on experience.
