Valleyhaven is nestled in Chilliwack, an area renowned for its beautiful country setting and vibrant urban core. The three-story residence provides a safe supportive home, and 24-hour nursing care, for seniors who can no longer live independently, whether due to physical or cognitive issues.
We are looking for an energetic, passionate Activities Aide to join our team on a casual basis.
Who You Are
You are energetic, upbeat, and personable; a team player that works fluidly with residents, families, and colleagues every step of the way.
You can work independently as well as take direction, be flexible, and be able to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
Your communication skills are solid; able to effectively share and receive information both verbally and in writing.
You are passionate about resident care and will go that extra mile to put a smile on our residents faces.
What You Will Do
- Set up, facilitate, and clear recreation programs, including, but not limited to: Bingo, Storytime, Bean Bag Toss, Chair Yoga and more. Working either independently, or as a team.
- Conduct satisfaction surveys after each program and record feedback for continuous improvement.
- Update the residence’s dining room wall calendars and activity postings.
Your Qualifications – The Must Have’s
- Therapeutic Recreation or Rehabilitation Certificate an asset
- Patience, kindness, compassion, and the ability to work collectively with your colleagues
- Long Term Care Experience in Recreation
- Ability to organize your workload and accomplish the day’s objectives
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- FOODSAFE Level 1 and/or Serving it Right
- Able to pass a Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector
