My client, Mountain Toys Cochrane, is looking for a highly motivated full time Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice who will be an exceptional addition to their team.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Tractor and Agriculture Equipment Apprentice. In this role, you'll build your trade while working on a wide variety of powersports and agricultural equipment. From Polaris side-by-sides and ATVs to KIOTI tractors and implements, you'll develop your skills in diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs while working alongside experienced technicians and progressing toward journeyperson certification.
Working in a team environment, you will support the company’s goals by:
- Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on powersports vehicles, and agricultural equipment
- Supporting general shop operations, including cleaning tools, organizing work areas, and performing other duties as assigned by the manager
- Conducting routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on powersport and heavy-duty equipment, and agricultural vehicles and machinery.
- Identifying and resolving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and system issues using a variety of diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Performing engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and exhaust system repairs, as well as parts replacement on both powersports vehicles and heavy-duty machinery.
- Assisting in the installation of aftermarket parts, accessories, and upgrades on customer vehicles and equipment as well as pre-delivery inspections.
- Testing and verifying repairs to ensure proper functionality, safety, and compliance with standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to company health and safety policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will require:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical repair, with a focus on heavy-duty equipment (trucks, construction machinery, or agricultural vehicles) and powersports vehicles (motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, etc.).
- Experience with powersports vehicles (motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, etc.) is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Experience:
- Registered as a Heavy Equipment Technician apprentice or interested in pursuing an apprenticeship.
- Previous experience in heavy equipment, agriculture, powersports, automotive, or related mechanical fields.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous learning.
- Experience with agricultural equipment, tractors, side-by-sides, ATVs, or diesel engines is considered an asset.
- Experience in welding and fabrication is an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience with diagnostics software.
Tools Requirements:
· Mechanics must provide their own personal tools necessary for the role. A standard tool set for automotive repairs is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 lbs), with assistance for heavier items.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in awkward positions for extended periods.
- Capacity to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including exposure to dirt, dust, oil, and noise.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at various heights as necessary for repairs.
