About the Role
The Manager of Finance & Corporate Services provides leadership and oversight for all financial functions at Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS), ensuring sound financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and effective financial management in support of the organization's mission. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Finance & Corporate Services is a key member of the Leadership Team who provides financial expertise, analysis, and recommendations to support informed decision-making by management and the Board of Directors.
This role is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, payroll oversight, and audit readiness, while translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights to support organizational planning and decision-making.
The Manager of Finance & Corporate Services provides direct supervision and leadership to the Finance Coordinator and, through this role, ensures an effective oversight of day-to-day financial operations.

Position Schedule: Permanent, 40 hours per week, hybrid role requiring both onsite and remote work.
What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership & Operations
· Provide leadership and oversight of all financial operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related financial systems.
· Ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant processing of invoices, expense claims, receivables, and payroll by providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to the Finance Coordinator.
· Lead month-end and year-end close processes and maintain a strong working relationship with the Board-appointed external accounting firm to ensure timely, accurate, and audit-ready financial statements.
· Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity with respect to the organization's financial records, business information, and sensitive data.
· Provide financial oversight and analysis to support capital campaign planning and execution, including developing and maintaining cash flow projections, funding schedules, and financial scenarios to support campaign planning and risk management.
· Collaborate closely with the Capital Campaign Manager and Development leadership to prepare timely and accurate campaign financial reports, ensuring transparency, alignment with donor intent, and informed decision-making by senior leadership and the Board.
· Review and authorize accounts payable transactions and corporate credit card payments through Meridian banking platforms, including e-transfers, Automated Funds Transfers (AFTs), and online bill payments, ensuring appropriate controls and approvals are maintained.
Budgeting, Planning & Financial Management
· Partner with the Executive Director and Director team to develop the annual operating budget, oversee budget implementation, and monitor organizational financial performance throughout the fiscal year, proactively identifying variances, risks, and opportunities.
· Develop, manage, and monitor organizational budgets and financial plans within approved timelines, ensuring effective stewardship of organizational resources.
· Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support organizational planning, decision-making, and long-term financial sustainability.
· Provide financial guidance and support to departmental leaders responsible for managing individual budgets, strengthening financial literacy and accountability across the organization.
Financial Reporting, Controls & Compliance
· Develop, maintain, and continuously improve financial reporting tools, including dashboards, cash flow analyses, forecasts, and projections, to support informed decision-making by the Leadership Team and Board.
· Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Executive Director, Directors' Group, Leadership Team, Risk & Finance Committee, and Board, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and meaningful financial analysis.
· Develop, implement, maintain, and monitor internal financial controls, policies, procedures, and risk management practices to ensure compliance with legislation, organizational policies, and financial best practices.
· Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and standards related to taxation, charitable status, employment requirements, and financial reporting.
· Ensure payroll approval and statutory compliance, including adherence to the Employment Standards Act, taxation legislation, WSIB remittances, and all required year-end filings.
· Manage deferred contribution reconciliations through monthly review and analysis in QuickBooks, including allocation tracking between RCPP and Operations accounts. Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting reconciliation files within SharePoint.
· Oversee payroll reconciliation and review processes, ensuring accurate coding, remittances, and approvals prior to payroll issuance.
· Oversee bank reconciliations, HST rebate administration, and organizational investments, ensuring accurate reporting and sound financial management.
Donation Ethics & Revenue Stewardship
· Oversee the accurate, timely, and compliant recording of all donations, including restricted and unrestricted gifts, in accordance with donor intent, CRA requirements, and generally accepted accounting principles.
· Partner with Development and Senior Leadership to support gift acceptance policies, proper receipting, and the ethical stewardship of donor funds, safeguarding public trust and organizational integrity.
Governance & Committee Support
· Serve as the staff lead for the Risk & Finance Committee by preparing financial reports, analysis, and supporting documentation, providing financial expertise to support effective governance and informed decision-making.
Program & Contract Reporting
· Oversee the administration of Municipal Pound financial reporting, including town tag reconciliation, and ensure accurate and timely submission of all required reports to contracted municipalities.
· Oversee inventory controls and financial safeguards to help prevent losses and ensure organizational assets and resources are managed responsibly and efficiently.
People Leadership
· Provide direct supervision, coaching, performance management, and professional development for the Finance Coordinator.
· Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented team environment that supports continuous improvement and high-quality financial services.
Other Responsibilities
· Provide oversight to ensure GTHS administrative functions are organized, efficient, and aligned with organizational priorities through effective workflows, procedures, and service standards.
· Oversee procurement, inventory management, and budget control for office supplies and administrative resources, ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices.
· Provide oversight for the administration of core business systems, including financial, HR, donor, volunteer, and productivity applications, ensuring appropriate user access, license management, renewals, and coordination with service providers.
· Support technology-enabled administrative workflows by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and risk management across finance and administrative processes.
· Monitor technology-related expenditures within approved budgets and assist with planning for equipment and software replacement to ensure staff have reliable tools while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
· Support organizational IT policies and administrative procedures related to data security, system access, backups, and business continuity in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
What You’ll Bring
· CPA designation preferred; post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required. Equivalent senior financial management experience within a nonprofit or public sector environment will be considered.
· Minimum five (5) years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including experience managing financial operations and supervising staff.
· Demonstrated experience in nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting, restricted and unrestricted funds, budgets, grants, and charitable compliance.
· Proven experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
· Experience working closely with an Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors, including preparing financial reports and supporting Finance Committee activities.
· Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit processes, risk management, and regulatory compliance, including taxation, charitable legislation, and employment-related financial requirements.
· Experience leading, coaching, and developing direct reports.
· Solid understanding of payroll administration, employment standards, statutory remittances (e.g., WSIB), and year-end filings.
· High level of proficiency with financial systems, accounting software, reporting tools, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
· Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for non-financial audiences.
· Strong ethical judgment, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
· Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and the mission and values of Georgian Triangle Humane Society.
· Passion for and understanding of the animal welfare sector.
· Experience using QuickBooks Online is considered an asset.

Working Conditions
The work environment inherently contains common animal-related allergens, including but not limited to fur, dander, and cleaning agents. This role may also requires prolonged sitting or standing (up to 8 hours/day), computer usage for extended periods, as well as walking, bending as necessary. As such, you are able to perform all the essential duties of the position in such an environment. This role may be subject to various interruptions and several requests during a workday.
