This position is located at Raleigh Division in Oshawa, Ontario but the location is subject to change based on operational requirements.
Reporting to the Manager, Fleet Maintenance, the incumbent will:
- Perform all external and internal body repair procedures on buses and fleet vehicles, including body panels, doors, hoods, lids, and shell damage
- Conduct repairs and installations of interior body components such as seats, stanchions, panels, and auxiliary equipment
- Execute frame straightening, metal forming, normalizing, shrinking, solder filling, cold filling, and surface preparation techniques
- Apply paint touch-ups and install or maintain vehicle graphics
- Replace and adjust glass components including windshields, side and rear windows, vents, and power assist mechanisms
- Repair vehicle cooling systems including radiators, hoses, thermostats, clamps, and related equipment
- Perform minor electrical repairs such as lighting and wiring harnesses
- Conduct maintenance and repair of other Durham Region Transit (DRT) assets such as fare boxes, plow harnesses, hoists, overhead doors, and fabricated components
- Estimate repair costs and complete required reports and documentation accurately and promptly
- Participate in job-related training as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
The successful applicant will possess:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A clean driving abstract and ability to obtain and hold a valid 'CZ' license
- Certified 310B Auto Body Repairer in good standing
- Minimum 3 years of related experience in heavy vehicle or fleet body repair is preferred
- Proficiency in a variety of body repair tools and methods including welding, cutting, and surface finishing
- Experience with paint applications and graphic decal installations
- Familiarity with minor electrical and cooling system repairs considered an asset
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, estimates, and repair documentation
- Strong attention to detail, organization, time management skills and an open and respectful approach to engaging colleagues with diverse perspectives
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Must be physically capable of performing all required duties
- Ability to work all shifts as required including evening, overnights, and weekends
- Ability to work between various DRT maintenance facilities as required
- This position will be paid $48.87 per hour.
