Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Tandem Dump Truck Driver to join our team. This role involves operating tandem dump trucks to transport materials efficiently and safely across various job sites. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations, heavy equipment operation, and vehicle maintenance. Prior experience with forklift operation, freight handling, and automotive repair is a plus. Responsibilities
- Safely operate tandem dump trucks to deliver materials to designated locations in accordance with project schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring all safety and operational standards are met.
- Load and unload freight using forklift or other heavy equipment as needed, adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow all federal, state, and local transportation laws and company policies during operations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, site managers, and team members regarding delivery schedules and potential issues.
- Assist with other related duties such as automotive repairs or equipment operation when required.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tandem dump trucks.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and freight transportation.
- Knowledge of forklift operation is preferred but not mandatory; certification is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and routine maintenance on heavy vehicles.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and transportation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical ability to load/unload freight, perform inspections, and operate heavy machinery safely.
- Prior experience with automotive repair or troubleshooting heavy equipment is advantageous but not required.
