The Career Centre is the source for career and employment information and expertise at the University of Alberta. Reporting to the Manager, Employer Relations, the Recruitment Coordinator works with new and existing employer clients, guiding and supporting them in engaging in recruitment activities at the University of Alberta. The Recruitment Coordinator vets employers, ensuring they are legitimate organizations that are interested in recruiting those working towards or holding a degree from the University of Alberta.
The Recruitment Coordinator is often an employer's first point of contact at the U of A. As such, the Recruitment Coordinator helps employers understand the U of A context and advises employers on how to most effectively recruit from their target populations on campus. The Recruitment Coordinator refers employers to other programs and services within the Career Centre, as well as to other career service providers on campus, to ensure employers have a rewarding recruitment experience at the U of A.
The Recruitment Coordinator posts all jobs submitted from employers to the Career Centre on a daily basis, takes responsibility for the scheduling and coordination of upwards of five career fairs and between 40 and 60 employer information sessions per year. These events are attended by 300 to 400 employers and almost 9000 students per year. The Recruitment Coordinator also coordinates interviews and assists in the planning and implementation of other recruitment and networking events.
Student Success and Experience (formerly Office of the Dean of Students) holds student support at the heart of everything we do. We provide services focused on student well-being and flourishing both in the classroom and beyond. We offer a wide range of services, including career guidance, health and wellness resources, academic support, and assistance for students facing unexpected challenges or personal difficulties. Assist employers so that they may be successful in their campus recruitment and hiring of U of A students and alumni.

Assist employers in registering and engaging in on-campus recruitment services, including online job postings, career fairs, information sessions, interviews, and other student engagement and recruitment activities.

Assists employers in navigating the Career Centre website as well as the campusBRIDGE portal: an online system (Orbis) for job postings, events, event registrations and other student employer engagement activities.

Advises employers on how to write effective job postings that will solicit the desired applications.

Gains and maintains expert knowledge on the Career Centre's online platform, campusBRIDGE.

Vet's new employer requests to access campusBRIDGE and maintains data integrity.

Reviews submitted job postings, event registrations, and other requests for service and makes decisions about which to approve or reject.

Schedules and coordinates upwards of five career fairs a year, between 40 and 60 employer information/briefing sessions, and interviews.

Collaborates with the Student Success and Experience (SSE) administration team to ensure billing is completed, refunds and adjustments are processed, billing issues are resolved, and overdue accounts are followed up on.

Works as part of the on-campus recruitment team and, as such, may provide backup support to work experience programs, engagement and outreach activities.

Consults with and solicits formal and informal feedback from clients and partners, including employers, students/alumni, university departments/administration, and Career Centre staff; compiles feedback and statistics and shares appropriately.

Remains current on best practices in post-secondary recruitment and shares ideas and recommendations for improving services and procedures with team members.

Builds and maintains productive relationships with new and existing employers, assesses their recruitment needs and advises on recruitment strategies.

Refers employers to appropriate services within the Career Centre, including recruitment services, networking and experiential learning activities that support the career development and employment of students and alumni.

Connects with employers, student groups, faculty, staff, and others on campus to raise awareness of networking and recruitment activities at the U of A.

Connects with colleagues in career centres in other post-secondary schools for the purposes of sharing information and collaboration.

Approaches employers with available options to provide sponsorship, donations, or other support.

Works collaboratively and creatively with the central communications team and the Career Centre communications team on planning and effectively promoting events to employers and students.

Compliance, alignment, and support of the SSE’s current and emerging mandate, strategic initiatives, and operational plans and programs that are dedicated to achieving a more diverse, equitable, accessible, and inclusive environment for all who work, learn, and live within our community is required.

Undergraduate degree and a minimum of two years of related work experience.

Demonstrated experience in event management with the ability to be reflective, innovative and creative in event design and delivery.

Strong customer service skills and experience in balancing the competing needs of diverse client and stakeholder groups.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive working relationships and navigate complex and evolving contexts.

Knowledge of post-secondary recruitment and basic employment legislation.

Demonstrated experience in student affairs.

An understanding of student issues, in particular related to career and career management.

Familiarity with academic programming offered at the U of A.

Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken French is an asset.
