We are currently looking for an experienced IRATA level 3 Rope Access Supervisor for our project in the Alberta Oil Sands. We are seeking a Rope Access Level 3 Supervisor with geotechnical experience, strong leadership and judgement skills as well as an exceptional ability to organize, plan, and anticipate potential adversity. The ideal candidate will have experience in geotechnical slope remediation, anchoring, scaling, mesh and rockfall systems. Applicants with a thorough understanding of Geotechnical hazard mitigation, slope stabilization and rope access will be given preference. Geotechnical or engineering education is considered an asset.
Our Rope Access Technicians work closely with BAT's Leadership Team as well as clients and and contractors and will consistently build and maintain these relationships by aligning with our Core Values: Safety-Driven, Integrity, Flexibility, Quality, and Team Spirit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and select the most appropriate work methods for Rope Access operations.
- Ensure the safe execution of Rope Access work on assigned projects.
- Conduct pre-mobilization briefings and discussions with project supervisors and technicians.
- Ensure detailed and project-specific hazard identification and risk assessments are completed.
- Prepare detailed and project-specific safety method statements.
- Develop detailed and project-specific rescue plans.
- Maintain and complete Technician Rope Hour Log Sheets.
- Identify new technicians, introduce them to the team, and establish appropriate control measures.
- Install, inspect, and control Rope Access systems and anchor points.
- Assign tasks to team members and report work progress to management.
- Verify that all site control documents required by operational procedures are properly completed and signed by all personnel.
- Maintain effective communication with project personnel and stakeholders.
- Ensure personnel are properly oriented and trained on safety measures and procedures, including tailgate meetings, toolbox talks, hazard identification tools (BAT-HSE.FR005 FLRA), company policies, HSE and technical procedures, and safe work permits.
- Complete daily project and commercial reports/forms and submit them to head office in a timely manner.
- Ensure safety and quality standards are maintained on the project site.
- Wear a respirator when required by safety protocols and job demands, ensuring proper fit and seal at all times.
- Demonstrate flexibility, as BAT Construction operates multiple project sites across Canada with varying schedules, shifts, rotations, locations, and day/night work requirements. Employees are expected to adapt to operational changes as required.

Required Qualifications
- IRATA Level 3 Certification
- Minimum 3 years of Geotechnical experience
- Valid driver’s license
- CSTS or SiteReadyBC
- WHMIS
Compensation & Schedule
- Base wage: $64.24/hour
- Overtime: 1.5x after 6 hours/day
- Full-time position with benefits
- Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
- Long-term contract
