Position Title: Lifeguard
Location: Taylor District YMCA (9888 Cherry Ave W, Taylor, BC V0C 2K0)
Term: Temporary, Part-time
Hours: 4-24 hours per week
Shift: Shifts vary but include weekdays, evenings, and weekends
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: August 29th, 2026
Salary: $26.14 per hour
Reports To: Aquatics and Recreation Coordinator
Nature & Scope
The YMCA is a national leader in health, fitness, and aquatics. The Taylor District YMCA provides high quality aquatics programming, engages with the community and supports the development of lifesaving skills.
Major Responsibilities- in this position, you will:

Put in to action the principles and practice of lifesaving, lifeguarding and first aid

Observe patrons in the pool, enforce safety regulations and maintain safety in the facility

Willingness to complete swim instructor training

Be in accordance with all applicable provincial and YMCA Standards, policies and procedures

Help facilitate aquatics programming, plan activities for community events and birthday parties

Take payments for drop-in swims, punch passes and group bookings

Help keep the facility clean and in good condition
Qualifications-you bring:

Current Standard First Aid certificate

National Lifeguard - Pool Option
-
Swim Instructor certification - preference given to those with this certification

Experience as a Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor - preferred

Access to reliable transportation or a vehicle

Demonstrated high level of customer service skills

Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
