Job Overview

Lyons Memorial United Church is seeking a motivated individual to fill the role of Church Secretary and Office Manager. This part-time position is based on an average of 4 hours per week. While some tasks may be completed remotely, the position requires the successful candidate to be on site on Thursdays from noon to 3pm each week.

Remuneration for this position is an honorarium of $4550./year (paid in equal monthly amounts - equal to $22.75/hr based on 4hrs/week). This position reports directly to the Minister.

The successful candidate will possess:

general secretarial skills including keyboarding, computer use, telephone answering, operate printer/scanner/copier;
facility and familiarity with the use of MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, Google and email software;
a pleasant manner and discretion in conducting church business.

Duties

Manage the church office including directing email/phone messages to appropriate staff, undertake filing, order office supplies and prepare bulletins as required;
Collect and distribute church mail weekly and maintain current mailing addresses of congregants;
Facilitate and coordinate hall rentals, receive rental payments, issue receipts and maintain church hall calendar;
File current committee minutes and financial statements to maintain a current record;
Collect and collate all committee reports to produce the Annual Report, church newsletters to be bound annually;
Prepare PowerPoint slides for Sunday services and add tech moves to the Minister’s outline;
Coordinate gathering of materials for the UCC Archive;
Prepare weekly announcements and change hymn #’s weekly in the sanctuary as directed by the Minister;
Other duties as assigned.
