Health has an enormous impact on peoples' lives, and lab results play a key role in providing physicians with information they need to accurately diagnose and treat their patients. Alberta Precision Labs (APL) is looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to work in a fast-paced, public-facing Patient Service Centre (PSC). As the public face of APL, the successful candidate will work independently and with others in a patient-oriented, team-focused workplace that strives to be positive and respectful. As a subsidiary of Alberta Health Service (AHS), APL prides itself on the delivery of responsive diagnostic lab services to Albertans. This position includes a competitive salary, opportunities for professional development and comprehensive benefits. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification. This individual will be required to follow lab processes and procedures, perform venipuncture, ECG’s on registered outpatients and community patients and monitor wait times to ensure we are providing best service to our patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience. ECG experience.
