Stoney Creek Community Services Corporation’s mission is to provide property management services in support of the operation of non-profit housing accommodation for persons, including seniors and persons with disabilities, primarily of low or modest income.
We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as Maintenance Staff. You will be responsible for the efficient and effective repair and maintenance of the properties and grounds for those that we provide property management services. If you are experienced in general maintenance duties and would like to become part of our team, this position is for you!
The schedule is 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. Flextime is an option. Standby is a requirement after hours and weekend about once every five to eight weeks, which is compensated in addition to regular working hours.
This position requires travel to our properties between Brantford, Simcoe, Stoney Creek, Hamilton, Burlington, and Georgetown. Mileage is compensated for any work-related driving.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
General Carpentry Duties: Change countertops, door locks, doors, closets, cabinets, shelves, door closures, kick plates, towel bars, hinges, drawer slides, safety bars, cracks/holes in drywall etc. Repair and install flooring. Good understanding of general carpentry.
General Electrical Duties: Change smoke/CO detectors, light switches, fluorescent tubes, receptacles, fuses, fixtures, ceiling fans, stove elements, oven elements etc. Heating and Air Conditioner test a generator and understand the function of the generator, use power tools, good understanding of general electrical.
General Plumbing Duties: Change faucets, cartridges, taps, toilets, valves, shower heads, taps, washers, plunge toilets, use a snake, change a P-trap, flex line, leaks etc. Water softener, good understanding of general plumbing.
Fire Systems: Reset fire alarms, understanding how fire alarm system works, inspect fire system and complete daily, weekly, and monthly, recording in fire logbook. Understand how sprinkler system works, both dry and wet.
Hallways & Stairwells: Repairs and report all common area deficiencies including faulty door closures, plaster blisters, graffiti and vandalism, tile repairs, carpet repairs, etc.
Cleaning Duties: All cleaning duties as required to cover staff vacations or leaves.
Groundskeeper Duties: Some groundskeeper duties will be required during winter months, front entrance, and all emergency exits. Keep Logs and track outside contractor on snow and salting requirements.
Preventative Maintenance Program: Complete monthly preventative maintenance program.
Record Keeping: Use mobile app to prioritize work orders, update notes and statuses, and record your time. Cell phone provided.
Role Requirements:
- Must possess valid driver’s license in Province of Ontario.
- Employment conditional on criminal records check.
- Must have own hand tools
Compensation:
- Salary:$26.38/hour

- $250 safety shoe allowance
