Yard Person
We’re hiring a Yard Person to support yard, shipping, and production operations at our truss facility.
This role is mainly focused on loading, staging, material handling, and supporting production/shipping needs, but it is not limited to one area. Depending on the day, you may be staging trusses, loading trucks, organizing material, building floor material packages, cutting material, or helping wherever needed.
You will operate a forklift daily, so forklift experience is required. Climbing on product is required at times for staging, strapping, and safe loading. This role may also involve using tools such as a circular saw and chainsaw to cut and prepare material.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift daily to move lumber, trusses, floor packages, and building materials
- Load and unload trucks, including incoming materials and finished product
- Stage orders for shipment or pickup, including trusses, floor packages, bundles, and dunnage
- Build and prepare floor material packages according to order requirements
- Use tools such as a circular saw and chainsaw safely when preparing material
- Strap, protect, and secure loads for transport
- Climb on product when required for staging, strapping, and safe loading
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safe working conditions in the yard and plant
- Support general yard, shipping, and production needs wherever required
Requirements
- Forklift experience required
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, repetitive movement, and working on uneven ground
- Comfortable working around moving loads, forklifts, trucks, and equipment
- Willing and able to climb on product when required, while following safe work practices
- Comfortable using or learning to use saws and basic tools safely
- Reliable attendance
- Safety-minded and team-focused
Nice to Have, But Not Required
- Forklift certification
- Experience using a circular saw, chainsaw, or other cutting tools
- Lumber yard, truss plant, construction yard, or shipping/receiving experience
- Familiarity with lumber, trusses, floor systems, or building materials
- Experience loading flat decks and strapping loads

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
