The Opportunity
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Coordinator’s primary function is supporting the business unit’s commitment to Zero Harm which encompasses efforts toward environmental stewardship and workplace safety. The incumbent supports strong environmental performance through planning, monitoring, sample collection and other field activities consistent with company guidelines, permits and regulatory requirements and reporting. The incumbent supports strong safety performance through implementation, monitoring, and reporting consistent with the Ajax Project Health, Safety, and Security Plan.
The HSE Coordinator will report to the Ajax Superintendent. The position is hybrid and will require there to be some days on site at the Ajax Project office and the Ranch located in Kamloops, BC. This is a permanent full time role with a Monday to Friday work schedule (subject to change if required for project needs).
What You’ll Do
- Support the compilation and submittal of all environmental and safety reports required by company management and regulatory agencies;
- Support the planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation of all environmental projects;
- Monitor environmental and safety performance reports for trends and conditions, and recommend corrective actions to reduce or eliminate problems;
- Support all compliance processes as required by provincial, federal and local agencies, including, but not limited to, permits M-112 and PE 3904;
- Facilitate implementation of the Ajax Project Health, Safety and Security Plan
- Update and maintain the Ajax Project Risk Register;
- Support management of external contractors and consultants;
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies, guidelines, procedures and internal controls;
- Other duties as may be required.
What You’ll Bring
- Post-secondary education with a focus on occupational health and safety and environmental management;
- Prior experience in the mining or natural resource industry with exposure to environmental and safety management;
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Outlook;
- Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Knowledge of JD Edwards and SAP Ariba;
- Open and honest professional with a positive attitude;
- Knowledge of the local Kamloops mining environment is an asset;
- Proven coordination and organizational skills.

Compensation for this position is determined by experience and alignment with role requirements, and typically ranges from $70,000.00 to $82,000.00. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive awards.
