THE OPPORTUNITY:
Doidge Building Centres is looking for a detail- oriented Junior Accountant to join our finance team. In this role you will take charge of essential accounting tasks. Primary duties include depositing and posting cheques, cheque runs, processing payroll and month end reporting and performing account reconciliations. Collaborates closely with other departments, such as collections, finance, and branch managers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for the bi-weekly payroll and benefits maintenance for a selected group of companies
· Processing the cheque run for all companies
· Processing cash receipts for all companies that pay by cheque
· Developing monthly financial statements that include balance sheet, profit and loss statements
· Performing reconciliations
· Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
· Assist the accounting supervisor in preparation of monthly/yearly closings
· Assis with other accounting projects
· Other Duties as Assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
· Business Administration Diploma required
· Working towards the CPA designation is considered an asset
· Proven experience (3+ years) as a junior accountant
· Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices
Required Knowledge
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
· Proficiency in MS Excel

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with customers and internal stakeholders
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
· Ability to prioritize tasks, manager workload efficiently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Identify opportunities to enhance the accounting function processes and workflows
· Identify opportunities to improve controls in the organization

Ability to commute/relocate:

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
