Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to manage our organization’s financial operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires proficiency in SAP accounting software, and a comprehensive understanding of financial processes to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. Please note that this is a "one person financial team" all aspects of the companies financials fall under this position.

Remuneration: $75,000 - $100,000 annually to commence with experience

Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
· Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
· Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements, including corporate income tax, HST, various US state sales tax returns, and understanding of VAT compliance in various countries
· Coordinate year-end review processes and act as the primary liaison with external accountants.
· Ensure timely and accurate reporting to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Accounting Operations
· Manage day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
· Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
· Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
· Design, implement, and monitor effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
· Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
· Support compliance with internal policies and governance standards.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
· Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities.
· Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
· Support strategic initiatives through financial modeling and scenario analysis.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· CPA certification is preferred.
· 5-10+ years progressive accounting experience.
· Strong proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. SAP experience is required, and experience with Odoo is an asset
· Extensive knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, budgeting, and account reconciliation.
· Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed account analysis and identify discrepancies.
· Solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance standards.
· Experience with global accounting practices and principles an asset
· Understanding of cost accounting principles an asset
Requirements
· Proficient in SAP accounting software a must.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to present complex financial information in an accessible manner.
· High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
· Demonstrated ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
