Our team works on structural steel, tanks, piping, and industrial equipment, delivering high-quality coating systems and surface preparation.
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Industrial Sandblaster (Abrasive Blaster) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for surface preparation using abrasive blasting equipment, ensuring surfaces meet required SSPC / NACE standards prior to coating applications.
Responsibilities
- Operate abrasive blasting equipment (sandblasting / grit blasting)
- Prepare steel surfaces to required blast profiles and cleanliness standards (SP6, SP10, SP5, etc.)
- Set up and maintain blast pots, air compressors, hoses, and blast nozzles
- Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure proper preparation
- Assist industrial painters with surface prep and coating preparation
- Maintain blasting equipment and perform basic maintenance
- Ensure proper use of PPE including blast suits, respirators, and safety gear
- Follow company safety procedures and site protocols
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
- 2+ years abrasive blasting / industrial surface preparation experience
- Knowledge of SSPC / NACE surface preparation standards
- Experience with industrial blast equipment and compressors
- Ability to work in industrial environments and physically demanding conditions
- Strong attention to detail and safety procedures
- Valid driver’s license
Assets
- Industrial painting experience
- Confined Space Certification
- Fall Protection Certification
- CSTS, H2S Alive, or First Aid
- Experience with industrial coating systems
