Summit Acre Farm Ltd is seeking a Lead Farm Operator to take on an extensive hands-on role in our farming operation. This is a full-time, permanent position with immediate availability.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and responsibility. You will be involved in all aspects of crop production and farm operations, including:
- Operating modern farm machinery for seeding, spraying, and harvesting
- Helping with inventory management and processing
- Maintaining and repairing equipment to keep operations running smoothly
- Assisting in many other projects that are found on farm
- Hauling Grain, and equipment with Class 1 licence required
- Working doing snow removal during winter months (with increased pay)
Crops grown include wheat, oats, canola, and pulse crops.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily farm operations, including planting, spraying, harvesting, and grain management
- Lead a team of farm workers, providing guidance and training to ensure safety and productivity
- Operate, maintain, and repair farm machinery, heavy equipment, and power tools to keep operations running smoothly
- Conduct equipment inspections, perform basic repairs such as welding or using hand tools, and coordinate equipment maintenance schedules
- Safely operate Class 1 vehicles to deliver grain and equipment around the farm
- Operate grader, plow tractor, skidsteer, plow truck during winter off farm road maintenance activities
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience in an agricultural or farm setting
- Strong mechanical knowledge with ability to operate and repair farm machinery and heavy equipment
- Ability to operate forklifts, power tools, hand tools, and perform equipment repairs including welding
- Experience with farming operations such as planting, harvesting, and crop maintenance
- Basic math skills for measurements, record keeping, and operational calculations
- Excellent communication skills to lead a team effectively and coordinate tasks efficiently
- Class 1 Canadian Drivers Licence
