About the position:

Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and in conjunction with the program team, the Youth Worker is responsible for supervising and counselling youth on an individual and group basis. Generally, the Youth Worker is responsible for overall case management and case co-ordination activities of their youth, within the parameters of the program. The Youth Worker may also be responsible for delivering basic care, competency development, recreational and counselling services to all or a portion of the youth in the program.

McMan is looking for a Full Time Youth Worker for our Parkside Group Home in Lethbridge.

Shifts for this position are Tuesdays, 7am-3pm, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, 3pm-11pm, Saturdays, 7am-3pm.

Here’s how you will contribute as a Youth Worker within the Parkside Group Home:

Establish helping relationships with youth and their support networks.
Support the team environment.
Create positive interactions to enhance adaptive functioning, social skills, recreational opportunities, self-regulation skills, life-skills, and connection to the community for youth with significant disabilities.
Demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of intervention resources and methods.
Provide youth with guidance to assist them in addressing problem situations and/or behaviors.

Here’s what you’ll need to get an interview:

Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a degree/diploma in human services. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Six months’ experience in family and youth work; two years’ experience preferred.
Strong counselling, program planning, organizational and communication skills.
Experience in building relationships with community resources
Knowledge of existing community resources and understanding of issues related to youth homelessness, including poverty, mental health, and addictions. 
Strong documentation and assessment skills
Strong computer skills (MS Office)
Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate or CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid Certificate.
Clear Child Intervention Record Check, dated within the past six months.
Clear Police Information Check with vulnerable sector, dated within past six months.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (with three years’ experience), Driver’s Abstract, and use of reliable vehicle with $2M Third Party Liability insurance.
