Position Summary
The Parts Person is responsible for managing, identifying, ordering, and receiving parts and components required for the facility’s manufacturing, fabrication, and mechanical departments. This role requires an industry-qualified professional who can accurately manage high-volume inventory systems, assist with core return programs, and support production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Part Identification & Technical Support

Identify, source, and catalog complex industrial, automotive, and heavy equipment components using electronic parts catalogs, OEM manuals, and technical schematics

Provide expert parts-counter support to technicians, mechanics, welders, and fabricators, ensuring the correct components are allocated for production kitting.

Inspect incoming parts for quality, dimensional accuracy, and conformance to engineering specifications before releasing them to production or inventory.
Inventory Management & Systems Integration

Maintain real-time inventory tracking and multi-location data integrity utilizing the company’s ERP system.

Conduct cycle counts, investigate stock variances, and reconcile shipping, receiving, or invoicing discrepancies.

Assist with the Core Return program, ensuring high-value trade-in components are tracked, processed, and shipped to vendors to maximize core credits.

Coordinate the optimal layout of bins and shelving to maximize storage density and minimize "pick time" for the warehouse team.
Sourcing, Logistics & Procurement

Initiate purchase orders, negotiate short-term vendor pricing, and coordinate local and cross-border freight deliveries to minimize total landed cost.

Balance stock levels to support Just-in-Time (JIT) production requirements while maintaining appropriate Just-in-Case safety stock.

Safely prepare, pack, and document outgoing shipments, including the creation of bills of lading and customs paperwork for cross-border transit.
Safety, Leadership & Housekeeping

Mentor and train junior warehouse staff, parts clerks, or apprentices on proper part identification, warehouse safety protocols, and ERP best practices.

Ensure all material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, racking) is safely operated and maintained to Alberta OHS standards.

Actively maintain a clean, organized workspace in alignment with facility 5S and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications & Skills

Alberta Journeyman Parts Technician certification or a recognized Interprovincial Red Seal equivalent is preferred.

Experience working in an industrial parts department, heavy equipment dealership, or manufacturing warehouse setting.

High level of proficiency with ERP software, electronic parts catalogs, Microsoft Excel, and inventory databases.

Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with a clean driver's abstract; current Forklift Operator certification is highly preferred.

Strong mathematical aptitude, exceptional organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to handle shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Fluent in English (both written and oral) with strong cross-functional communication skills to resolve vendor and shop-floor issues.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Split between a parts-office environment and an active industrial shop floor/warehouse. Regular exposure to standard workshop elements including ambient noise, dust, and material-handling equipment.

Physically active role requiring manual dexterity, standing/walking for extended periods, bending, crouching, and the ability to safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Full compliance with safety standards and the continuous use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses and steel-toed boots is a mandatory condition of employment.
