About the Role: As an Assistant Brewer, you'll support the Head Brewer and brewing team in all aspects of day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on position that offers the opportunity to develop brewing skills and contribute to a tight-knit, hard-working team. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with brewing and wort production
- Clean and sanitize fermenters (FVs), bright beer tanks (BBTs), and other brewing equipment
- Perform daily fermentation checks and record data accurately
- Support cellar operations including beer transfers, yeast handling, dry hopping, and carbonation
- Package beer into kegs and cans
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the brewery at all times
- Receive and manage inventory of raw materials
- Assist with general equipment upkeep and maintenance
- Restock taproom as needed with packaged products
- Participate in off-site events, including setup, teardown, and beer service
- Occasionally help lead brewery tours and engage with guests about the brewing process
- Provide knowledgeable support to front-of-house staff and customers
- Deliver tasting training sessions to FOH staff in collaboration with Management.
- Maintain clear records of brews.
- Maintain accurate records by inputting inventories, invoices, and depletions into the Wisk inventory system.
- Monitor brewing systems remotely and respond to emergencies (e.g., power outages, spills) when offsite.
- Other duties as assigned by the brewing team
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of experience in a commercial brewery or similar production environment
- Brewing education or certification is an asset
- Solid understanding of beer styles and basic sensory skills preferred
- Physically capable of lifting up to 25 kg and maneuvering kegs up to 70 kg
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment with tasks such as lifting, crouching, climbing, and repetitive motion
- G-Class driver’s licence required
- Smart Serve certification and a valid criminal record check
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
