Position Overview:
The Maintenance Associate performs a variety of routine building maintenance, ground maintenance, and custodial work involving the care, cleaning, maintenance and repair of ADJ’s buildings and equipment.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
· Performs a variety of custodial, ground maintenance, and routine building maintenance activities involved in maintaining ADJ buildings, facilities, and grounds.
· Performs a variety of routine building maintenance and repairs, replaces light bulbs, repairs, adjusts and replaces electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related parts, components, and fixtures; patches holes, and paints.
· Operates and maintains hand and power tools, vehicles and light to heavy power equipment needed to perform routine building maintenance, grounds maintenance and custodial activities.
· Performs grounds maintenance and gardening duties; mows, edges, waters, and trim lawns, prunes, sprays, fertilizes, plants trees, grass, shrubs, pulls weeds; rakes leaves, edges walkways, applies pest control methods.
· Assists in coordinating and supervising outside maintenance vendors when needed.
· Locks and unlocks doors and gates as appropriate, raises and lowers flags.
· Assist in administrative functions regarding facilities including locksmith requests, key inventory.
· Empties waste bins, replaces drum liners, mops spills.
· Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors, in shop and offices.
· May operate company Aerial Lift to perform maintenance.
· Identifies and reports maintenance and repair needs and problems.
· Monitors and assists in maintaining inventory levels of building and grounds maintenance and custodial supplies, assists with ordering and receiving supplies.
· Maintains routine records related to assigned activities.
Administration

· Sets a positive example by maintaining a respective attitude, cooperating with co-workers, management, and internal and external customers.
· Be a productive team member and help to meet established departmental and Company goals.
· Wears appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when required
· Report any personal workplace injuries to direct supervisor immediately.
· Report safety issues to direct supervisor or HR Department as soon as possible.
· Responsible for knowing where non-hazardous waste collection containers are located and for putting non-hazardous/hazardous wastes in appropriate containers.
· Report to work for your regularly scheduled shifts on time and ready to work.
· Follow all company policies and health and safety procedures.
· Effectively gives and receives feedback and willingly asks questions and seeks direction when needed.
· May work any and all shifts/days as required and may be asked to work between ADJ facilities.
· Willingly accepts responsibility of sharing skills and knowledge with other employees.
· Perform all other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
· Must meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Security Assessment Application as per Section 15 of the Controlled Goods Regulations, SOR/2001-32.
· Must have knowledge of proper methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used to perform general building maintenance, grounds maintenance and custodial work.
· Mobility to work in the field and in around ADJ offices and buildings, to sit, stand, and walk on level, uneven, or slippery surfaces, frequently reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, squat, climb and descend ladders, operate hand and power tools, vehicles and power equipment.
· Aerial lift and working at heights training preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents.
· High school diploma or GED.
· 2+ years of experience.
