Swift Underground specializes in telecommunication infrastructure construction and is based in Steinbach, Manitoba. We use industry-leading equipment and technologies to construct, service, and repair telecommunications towers and related equipment for service providers in Western Canada and Ontario.
Position Summary:
The Tower Rigger Technician is a hands-on field role responsible for the construction and maintenance of telecommunications towers and the installation and servicing of various related equipment.
This role will assist our current Tower Rigging crews and involves climbing and working at various heights, assembling and erecting towers, installing and servicing various telecommunications equipment and cabling systems, completing physically demanding tasks, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.
This position will require you to be able to travel for out-of-town projects in Western Canada and Ontario. Tools, specialized equipment, and required safety equipment are provided.

Essential Job Functions:
- Climb telecommunications towers and other vertical structures to install, inspect, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and related infrastructure.
- Assist with the assembly, erection, maintenance, and removal of telecommunications towers, mounts, and components.
- Install, secure, and maintain antennas, radios, cabling systems, grounding systems, and related tower-mounted equipment.
- Assist with the construction of tower foundations and bases, including concrete work, site preparation, and placement of tower components
- Conduct visual inspections of tower structures, equipment, hardware, rigging gear, and safety systems, and report deficiencies or concerns to stakeholders.
- Assist with troubleshooting telecommunications equipment malfunctions and connectivity issues for service providers.
- Clean and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment assigned for use.
- Work scheduled shifts, including overtime, based on project and operational needs.
- Must be able to travel and work on out-of-town projects.
Position Qualifications:
- Must be able to work effectively at heights on telecommunications towers and other vertical structures.
- Must be physically fit and capable of performing demanding work, including climbing, lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to following all company safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Able to communicate with customers and co-workers in a professional manner.
- Ability to use a variety of power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment.
- Responsible and safety‑focused operation of company vehicles and equipment.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
- Technical knowledge of telecommunications equipment, including wireless radios and antennas, is considered an asset.
- Valid tower climbing and rescue certification, fall protection and working at heights training, rigging training, or other related safety certifications are considered a strong asset.
Compensation:
Beginning salary of $24-$32/hr based on experience.
