Overview

Hello aspiring artists! We at Ill Advised Gaming are hiring voice actors to play roles for an upcoming game to be released on steam, we have internally dubbed the game "Project Overworld".

This is an action-adventure game, set on a dystopian post apocalyptic Earth after an asteroid pierces the planet causing a chain reaction, resetting the world. You control a 3D character in third person and engage in adventure that will allow you to understand the world. The game will have a unique combat system, where all fighting combos are fully customizable. Players will be able to make the game as simple or complex as they desire. It will launch along with an app for mobile called "Pocket Overworld" that will connect to the main game and allow players to manage in-game resources in an engaging way. The game is being developed in Unreal engine 5 with cooperative online play in mind and cross-play. We want players to be able to fight and explore with their friends. The plan is to have these voice actors take on the roles of the main characters of the story to portray them in an adventurous setting within the game world.

Key Details

When you arrive at the studio we plan to always provide water.
The recording will most likely be one hour sessions scheduled regularly throughout the month.
Compensation is 20$/h.

Duties

Perform the assigned roles in the recording booth to bring characters to life through expressive acting.
Collaborate with directors and other actors during rehearsals to develop character interpretations and enhance the overall performance.
Show up to a short 20 minute virtual planning meeting mid July. (unpaid via zoom)
You will receive the game script and details about your character to which you will have to read over before coming to the recording date.
Contribute ideas for character development and script enhancements when appropriate.
Show up to the recording dates ready to perform! This will be during the month of August.
Act your character's voice lines.
Some of you may be asked to become the monsters of the Overworld, from dragons and skeletons, to robots! We are hoping to find creative voice actors versatile enough to play a human but still be able to switch to monster mode!

Requirements

No prior voice acting experience needed!
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey emotions and intentions through voice and body language.
Experience in public speaking is highly desirable to engage with audiences during performances or events.
Ability to educate oneself on various acting techniques and styles; willingness to learn from feedback and direction.
Have an understanding about what an animation is and a video game.
Previous acting experience in theater, film, or television is preferred but not mandatory for enthusiastic newcomers willing to learn.
A passion for storytelling and the performing arts is essential.
Does not mind talking for long periods of time.

We are a small game studio start up from Toronto with big plans for the future of gaming and digital arts for the GTA. All voice actors chosen will be automatically included in the future processes when hiring voice actors for the actual game's cinematic story (if they are interested in reprising their roles). There are also opportunities for future mocap acting sessions as well in the coming years.
