OVERVIEW
The Technical Service Specialist serves as the primary technical liaison between Concord Compounding Limited (CCL) and its customers. This position provides on-site technical support, conducts material and processing trials, assists with new product launches, and helps resolve technical and manufacturing challenges related to PVC compounds and polymer products.
The role works closely with customers, Technical Services, Quality, Operations, and Sales to ensure successful product performance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. When not traveling to customer locations, the incumbent will support internal technical initiatives, product development activities, manufacturing trials, process improvements, and other projects that contribute to the success of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Possess and exercise good interpersonal skills to build relationships with customers and help facilitate product launches.
- Conduct in-person material and processing trials at customer locations to overcome processing setup/ changeover issues linked with new product launches or quality related issues.
- Create and issue trip reports for all customer visits and keep records in an organized and accessible manner.
- Identify material improvement opportunities as a result of the feedback from customer trials.
- Understand customer’s regulatory compliance needs and advise on those details.
- As part of the development team, share input to help define material specifications to ensure manufacturability and end-products quality that meets customer needs.
- Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and managers within all departments.
- Travel to customer sites as required, including locally, within the province, and to the United States.
- Work with the Technical Services Director to help achieve goals and define strategies for success.
- Work with the Technical Services Director to help develop new tools to improve the development/ trial process success and efficiency.
- Continue self-education to support personal growth in the role.
- Perform equipment and material evaluations.
- Support and sustain recycling programs.
- Support departmental, company, and corporate goals.
- Comply with established safety rules at CCL and all customer locations

- Other duties as required.
SCHEDULE
This position requires you to be working on day shift, in office, 5 days per week, when not traveling to customer sites.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education:
- Post-secondary Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial) or equivalent technical education and/or work experience.
Experience:
- Three to five years working experience with PVC and/or polymer/plastics compounds and plant operation.
- Knowledge of PVC/ polymer/plastics technology including raw material processing, physical & chemical performance properties and processing equipment
- Knowledge of customer specifications and performance requirements along with test methods and equipment
Travel:
- This role requires travel to customer sites as needed. Customers may be located locally, across the province, or in the United States.
- The successful candidate must be eligible to travel internationally and able to cross the Canada–U.S. border.
Skills:
- Possess Good interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of commercial-sized production equipment such as would be used by our rigid and flexible PVC processing customers (extrusion, injection molding, calendaring etc.)
- Basic understanding of plastics testing equipment and material properties as is typical in our industry
- Understanding of color measuring systems.
- Understanding of and ability to operate testing equipment.
- Knowledge of performance requirements, standards specification and test methods for polymeric building products.
- Ability to analyze and interpret test results and product performance.
- Ability to troubleshoot processing changes and make recommendations to the customer.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Exhibits leadership, organizational and analytical/ troubleshooting skills.
- Time management skills
- Able to work and cooperate with other personnel at various levels.
- Able to work productively with minimum supervision.

Pay: $110,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
