1st FLOOR HOUEKEEPING ROUTINE
EXTENDICARE SCARBOROUGH
POSITION: Housekeeping aide 1st Floor
TIME: 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
BREAK TIME: 10:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
LUNCH TIME: 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
REPORTING TO: Support Services Manager or Delegate
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
37 Resident Rooms (100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 113,114,115,116,117,118,119,120,121,122,123,124,125,126,127,216,217,218,
219,220,221,222,223.
Please note - 3 deep cleans per week must be completed and any other duties assigned by supervisor delegate.
8:00 a.m.–8:10 a.m.
Clean staff lounge and men’s change room then proceed to the floor.
8:10 a.m. – 10:15a.m.
WHEN STARTING TO CLEAN THE RESIDENT ROOMS NEVER START WITH THE ROOMS FROM THE DAY BEFORE. BEGIN WHERE YOU ENDED FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY, THIS WILL ENSURE THAT ALL THE ROOMS ARE MAINTAINED AT A GOOD LEVEL.
PLEASE CHANGE MOP HEAD EVERY ROOM
Cleaning of Resident Rooms – With disinfectant cleaner.
1.Monitor the garbage containers inside and outside for soil
2.Dispense bathroom cleaner into toilet, dispense disinfectant cleaner on outside of entire toilet, sink and commode chair (if applicable) using a flip cap. DO NOT USE SPRAY BOTTLE. This is to be done prior to cleaning the resident room which loosens and destroys bacteria and prevents build ups.
3. Moving clockwise around the room spot clean on all walls, doorframes, door and furniture, removing all fingerprints and soil marks. This would include the bathroom areas as well.
4.Check window curtains and let the manager know if soiled.
5.Check privacy curtains and let manager know if soiled.
6.Clean horizontal surfaces with disinfectants such as bedside tables, over bed table, bedrail. Please let charge nurse know if visible soils so the PSW can clean we can go back and disinfect.
7.high/low dusting light fixtures, furniture and electronics when required.
8.Damp wipe doorknobs, and light switches with disinfectant cleaner.
Clean sink and toilet, wet wipe the soap dispenser and towel dispenser.
10:15 a.m. – 10:45 p.m.
Break
10:45 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Head down to the basement
1-Bring dirty mops and rags to the laundry
2-Lock housekeeping cart and park in housekeeping storage room
3:30 p.m.
