Security Site Manager
About the Role
Guardteck Security is seeking an experienced Security Site Manager to lead security operations at a major luxury retail shopping centre in Vancouver, BC.
This is a high-profile, client-facing leadership role suited for a polished, confident, and hands-on security professional who can lead a large team, manage complex site operations, respond effectively to incidents, and deliver an elevated service experience in a premium retail environment.
This is not a desk-only position. The successful candidate will be visible on-site, engaged with the team, responsive to client needs, and comfortable making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment where professionalism, discretion, and strong judgment are essential.
What You’ll Do
As the Security Site Manager, you will oversee daily security operations, support and develop the site leadership team, maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, and ensure the site operates in alignment with Guardteck standards, client expectations, contractual requirements, and key performance indicators.
You will act as a key operational leader during incidents, emergencies, investigations, guest concerns, retailer issues, and property-related matters. You will also play an important role in building a culture of accountability, service excellence, proactive communication, and polished security presence across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day security operations for a major luxury retail property.
- Ensure all site staff follow Guardteck standards, site procedures, client expectations, and company policies.
- Review daily dispatch logs, incident reports, and operational documentation to ensure accuracy, professionalism, and timely distribution.
- Monitor site compliance with contract requirements, KPIs, training standards, post orders, and operational procedures.
- Partner with the Guardteck Account Manager to review site performance, address operational priorities, and complete monthly scorecards.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies and support the site team during critical incidents.
- Lead or support investigations involving major incidents, guest complaints, property concerns, retailer issues, or security team matters.
- Ensure CCTV, access control, and integrated security systems are used effectively to support incident response, investigations, and overall site safety.
- Identify operational gaps and recommend improvements that strengthen service delivery, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the site security leadership team, including supervisors and shift leads.
- Set clear expectations for professionalism, accountability, customer service, communication, and performance.
- Conduct regular site visits, performance checks, and team check-ins to ensure staff remain proactive, polished, and engaged.
- Support employee development through coaching, feedback, performance reviews, and recognition initiatives.
- Facilitate regular meetings with the site leadership team and ensure action items are documented and followed up on.
- Support emergency preparedness through tabletop exercises, drills, and scenario-based training.
- Promote a strong team culture built on service excellence, ownership, discretion, and operational readiness.
Client and Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong working relationships with property management, retailers, contractors, guests, and other site stakeholders.
- Meet regularly with the Property Management Team and Guardteck Account Manager to discuss site performance, priorities, and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct regular site walkthroughs with Property Management and respond to client requests in a timely, professional, and solutions-focused manner.
- Support security risk assessments and recommend enhancements to improve the security program.
- Maintain and update emergency response plans, ensuring site staff understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Represent Guardteck professionally in all client, retailer, guest, and stakeholder interactions.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Security Site Supervisor, Site Security Manager, Security Operations Manager, or similar security leadership role.
- Experience leading a large security team in a complex, customer-facing environment.
- Experience in luxury retail, shopping centre security, commercial property security, hospitality, or another high-profile service environment is a strong asset.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure and respond effectively to incidents or emergencies.
- Strong understanding of incident reporting, investigations, emergency response, site procedures, and operational compliance.
- Experience working with CCTV, access control, intrusion systems, and integrated security technology.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and report-writing platforms.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion at all times.
- OFA 2 Certification is required or must be obtained.
- AST Certification is required or must be obtained.
Compensation
Our compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance.
The typical hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 annually. The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, market location, and internal equity.
