The Non-Certified Tradesperson is responsible for the installation, layout, preventative maintenance, and ongoing maintenance of machinery and equipment. Working as part of the Maintenance Team, the Non-Certified Tradesperson ensures all machinery is running safely and the plant is operating in compliance with applicable regulations. All maintenance work will be carried out efficiently while placing the highest priority on safety.
Responsibilities: Diagnose, repair, or replace faulty packaging and meat processing equipment, including motors and drives. Read, follow, and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, technical instructions, and manuals to determine and perform work procedures, required maintenance, and service. Determine and follow procedures for testing existing and newly installed machines and equipment to maximize output. Troubleshoot to identify and repair equipment to limit downtime. Assist with the setup and movement of equipment as required. Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facility. Use a variety of hand and power tools, meters, and material handling equipment when performing duties. Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Manager, suppliers, and contractors to determine effective repair practices and schedules. Follow all current GMP, Food safety, OHS regulations and quality specifications of a manufacturing food facility. Document and maintain records for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference guide. Ensure documentation meets or exceeds mandated requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years Industrial maintenance experience, Previous specialized experience in welding, plumbing, millwright, or electrical Trades.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to diagnose, and repair industrial equipment independently. Experience with preventative maintenance.
- Read, follow, and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, technical instructions and manuals to determine and perform work procedures, required maintenance, and service.
- Experience rebuilding motors, gearboxes, drives, pumps, bearings, valves etc…
- Experience operating power tools, hand tools, and equipment.
- Equipment Operator Experience/ Certification (Forklift, Reach, Scissor Lift, skid steer)
- Other Certifications such as WHMIS, Fall Arrest, Confined Space is an asset
- Ability to lift heavy objects minimum of 40lbs and should be in overall good physical health, lots of walking, standing, crouching, and lifting heavier materials and tools.
- Daily exposure to typical manufacturing areas will be required and will require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, safety glasses, high visibility vest and hearing protection where required.
