We are seeking an experienced Registered Pharmacy Technician to help establish and grow our new Level B/C Non-Sterile Compounding Laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of building a specialized compounding service from the ground up.
In addition to preparing compounded medications, the successful candidate will play an integral role in developing the laboratory's operational systems, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality assurance documentation, workflow processes, and compliance with NAPRA Model Standards.
As part of a community pharmacy team, the successful candidate will also support day-to-day pharmacy operations, including dispensing, prescription preparation, inventory management, and patient service, while helping ensure the efficient operation of both the dispensary and compounding laboratory.
This is a permanent part-time position with a minimum commitment of three days per week. Additional hours may become available as the Pharmacy continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Level B/C non-sterile compounded preparations in accordance with NAPRA Model Standards.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Develop and maintain quality assurance and quality control documentation.
- Create and maintain master formulation records, compounding worksheets, cleaning logs, equipment maintenance records, calibration logs, training records, and all other required documentation.
- Participate in establishing compliant workflows for the new compounding laboratory.
- Assist with validation activities, documentation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain inventory of chemicals, ingredients, packaging materials, and compounding supplies.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario College of Pharmacists, NAPRA, and Health Canada standards.
- Process prescriptions accurately using the Kroll paperless pharmacy management system.
- Assist pharmacists with prescription preparation, final product workflow, and dispensing activities in accordance with the scope of practice for Registered Pharmacy Technicians.
- Provide professional, courteous, and efficient service to patients both in person and over the telephone.
- Maintain dispensary inventory, receive and reconcile orders, monitor stock levels, and assist with inventory control.
- Support the daily workflow of the pharmacy by prioritizing tasks and contributing to an efficient, organized work environment.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists to deliver safe, accurate, and high-quality compounded medications.
- Perform general pharmacy duties and other responsibilities as required or assigned by the Pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager.
Qualifications
Required
- Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Experience with Level B/C non-sterile pharmaceutical compounding.
- Thorough understanding of NAPRA Model Standards for Non-Sterile Compounding.
- Experience developing or maintaining SOPs, quality assurance documentation, and compounding records.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred
- Experience establishing or expanding a compounding program.
- Experience with quality management systems and regulatory compliance.
- Experience using the Kroll paperless pharmacy management system.
- Previous experience in a community, specialty, or compounding pharmacy.
Schedule
- Part-time
- Minimum three days per week
- Scheduled weekday day shifts
- Occasional Saturdays may be required
