POSITION: BILINGUAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR (STUDENT NUTRITION PROGRAM)

Community Living North Bay is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the position of Bilingual (French/ English) Community Development Coordinator. This position requires collaborating closely with the application entity and reports to the Manager. The role is based in North Bay, Ontario. This position will include supporting the sustainability of the program in North Bay, Parry Sound and Muskoka District.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Manager, the Community Development Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of the Student Nutrition Program in the Districts of Nipissing, Muskoka, Parry Sound. The objective of the program is to support the healthy development of children and youth by providing funding and support to nutrition programs including breakfast, lunch and/or snacks programs in school or community centres. Planned travel within the three districts will be required.
WHAT WILL YOU DO IN THIS ROLE?
- Assume a lead role in implementing the Student Nutrition Program.
- Assist with the Student Nutrition grant application requests and distribution of allocated funds for each site in Nipissing, Parry Sound and Muskoka Districts.
- Review and reimburse all receipts submitted by schools.
- To keep all records of schools’ nutrition programs current and up to date for all three districts (Reimbursement charts, legers, Information charts, files, etc.)
- To assist with fundraising at the local level to leverage grants from MCCYS and support the sustainability of the program in Nipissing, Parry Sound and Muskoka Districts.
- Negotiate corporate sponsorships and negotiate wholesale purchasing agreements with local businesses in all three Districts.
- Ensure adherence to “Student Nutrition Program” guidelines developed by MCCYS and by Community Living North Bay in all three Districts
- To network and build partnerships on an ongoing basis with businesses and community partners in all three Districts.
- Create newsletter specific to the needs of each District semi-annually.
ARE YOU THE RIGHT PERSON?
- Bilingual French/English (Advanced Level French)
- Minimum 2 years post secondary Diploma in Human Services, Early Childhood Education or Nutrition.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience working in community services programs/schools.
- Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide to Health Living, child nutrition/food services
- Experience coordinating and overseeing fundraising activities.
- Standard knowledge and practices associated with safe food handling and preparation
- Public speaking and relationship building.
- Computer skills, (Microsoft office, excel, data base, SharePoint).
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle required (proof of valid insurance with liability coverage of $2,000,000)
- Must have a completed Vulnerable Sector Check
COMPENSATION: $48,204.00 per annum, plus benefits and pension
SCHEDULE: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. With occasional evenings and weekends
