The Role
The Super Porter is a permanent full-time position on our Off-Site Operations team, reporting to the Director of Off-Site Operations and the Off-Site Managers. It is a hands-on, dynamic role that helps keep our healthcare sites running smoothly day-to-day.
You will be cross-trained at multiple healthcare facilities across Metro Vancouver, learning the daily routines of our hourly positions so you can step in wherever you are needed. Super Porters provide coverage during leaves, support sites through volume surges or routine changes and help maintain the consistent, high-quality service our clients depend on.
This is also a foundational entry point into our management team. It is an opportunity to build a strong operational foundation and develop the professionalism, accountability and judgment needed for future leadership roles within our operations.
Coverage Areas
When you apply, you will choose one of the following geographic groups. You may be scheduled at any site within your group but not outside of it:
1. North Vancouver, Vancouver, Richmond
2. Burnaby, New Westminster, Port Moody
3. Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge
Responsibilities
Site coverage and training
- Learn and master the routines of all hourly linen positions across your assigned sites
- Fill in for team member absences to keep the workflow and service uninterrupted
- Provide hands-on training and mentorship to new hourly staff and incoming Super Porters
- Share feedback with management on training effectiveness, employee performance and site-specific challenges
- Support new initiatives, system changes or pilot programs led by Off-Site Operations leadership
Linen operations
- Accurately load, unload and deliver clean linen carts and tubs to designated healthcare units
- Collect soiled linen tubs from units, following all hygiene protocols
- Carry out proactive linen top-ups and respond promptly to requests received by phone or fax
- Manage the laundering of personal clothing for residents and patients, including labelling, washing, drying, folding and hanging
- Refresh and declutter linen areas and related spaces on a regular basis
- Perform quality checks to ensure carts are built to standard and delivered accurately and on time
Safety and compliance
- Follow all safety, infection control and handling protocols for clean and soiled linen, including proper use of PPE
- Promote safe work practices across sites and ensure MSDS sheets and emergency equipment are current and functional
- Report hazards, site needs or improvement opportunities to the Off-Site Operations team
- Assist with developing and updating standard operating procedures
Candidate Requirements
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically fit and able to manoeuvre large mobile containers
- Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English
- Flexible with scheduling, including days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays
- Courteous, punctual, responsible, and reliable
- Able to travel within your chosen geographic area
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle (mandatory)
- Up-to-date immunizations (e.g. Hepatitis A and B, MMR, Influenza) (mandatory)
- Clean criminal record (mandatory)
