Responsibilities
- Lead the overall performance of the dealership across sales, service, parts, finance & insurance, and customer experience.
- Oversee daily operations, delegate responsibilities effectively, and maintain a hands-on leadership presence throughout the dealership.
- Drive vehicle sales growth through active leadership, coaching, mentorship, and support of the sales team.
- Remain highly visible throughout the dealership, regularly engaging with customers and employees, and leading by example.
- Partner with department leaders to support the performance and profitability of fixed operations, including Parts and Service.
- Develop and implement strategies that support the dealership’s business objectives and long-term success.
- Monitor key performance indicators, financial results, and departmental performance, taking corrective action where necessary.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to achieve operational and revenue goals.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, community partners, manufacturers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Support the resolution of customer concerns and ensure a consistently high level of customer satisfaction across all areas of the dealership,
- Demonstrate a hands-on leadership approach, stepping in wherever needed to support employees, customers, and dealership operations.
Qualifications and experience
- 7-10 years’ experience in the automotive industry, including significant experience in vehicle sales leadership, and a strong understanding of all aspects of dealership operations.
- Progressive leadership experience within a dealership environment, including responsibility for sales, operations, customer experience, and team performance, with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Post-secondary education in business or a related discipline is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to develop and execute strategies that support business growth, operational efficiency, and profitability
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to establish credibility with customers, employees, manufacturers, and community partners.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with dealership management systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurability requirements.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
This role is for a hands-on, customer-focused leader who is willing to support all areas of the dealership. The General Manager must be adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to wear multiple hats in a fast-paced environment – balancing both strategic leadership and day-to-day execution. No task is too small if it contributes to the success of the dealership, the customer experience, or the team.
