About Us
Stride Environmental Services Ltd. is a Greater Toronto Area demolition and environmental contractor providing asbestos abatement (Type 1, 2 & 3), demolition, mould remediation, lead abatement. We're growing our field operations and looking for an experienced Asbestos Abatement Supervisor to lead crews on active sites across the GTA.
The Role
The Asbestos Abatement Supervisor plans, directs, and signs off on Type 1, 2, and 3 asbestos abatement operations in compliance with Ontario Regulation 278/05, leading a crew of Abatement Workers/Labourers through containment set-up, removal procedures, and safe close-out on residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee containment set-up, negative-air pressure enclosures, and decontamination units per O. Reg. 278/05 and site-specific work plans.
- Supervise and direct Abatement Workers/Labourers on Type 1, 2, and 3 operations; assign daily tasks and monitor work quality and safety compliance.
- Hold and exercise sign-off authority as the designated 253S Type 3 Asbestos Abatement Supervisor on applicable projects.
- Coordinate with air-monitoring/clearance testing personnel and ensure documentation (waste manifests, daily logs, inspection records) is complete and accurate.
- Conduct site safety briefings, enforce PPE and respirator protocols, and manage incident/near-miss reporting.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and regulatory inspectors on-site.
- Manage crew scheduling, equipment readiness, and material/waste logistics for assigned projects.
- Support training and mentorship of newer crew members, including those working toward 253W certification.
Required Qualifications
- Valid 253S (Type 3 Asbestos Abatement Supervisor) certification — required.
- Prior hands-on experience in asbestos abatement (Type 1, 2, and 3), ideally with supervisory or lead-hand experience.
- Working knowledge of Ontario Regulation 278/05 and related WHMIS 2015, WSIB, and site safety requirements.
- Current respirator fit-test certificate; Working at Heights certification an asset.
- Strong communication skills — able to direct a crew, document site activity clearly, and liaise directly with clients and inspectors.
- Valid driver's licence (travel between GTA sites required).
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive wage based on experience and certification. Full-time, permanent, 40+ hrs/week.
Pay: $30.00-$37.00 per hour
