Position Summary
Vytalis Health Network is seeking a Shockwave Therapy Technician to join our team as an Independent Contractor.
This is a hands-on clinical role that combines technical skill with exceptional patient care. You will guide patients through one of the most personal parts of their healthcare journey, helping them feel comfortable, informed, and supported throughout their treatment.
You will administer low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (Li-ESWT) for erectile dysfunction using the Storz Duolith SD1, following physician-directed treatment protocols. The role involves direct treatment of the pelvic region and requires professionalism, sensitivity, and respect for every patient's privacy and dignity.
You will work closely with our physicians and nurse practitioners to ensure patients receive a seamless experience from their first treatment through to the completion of their care plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment before each appointment.
- Administer low-intensity shockwave therapy using the Storz Duolith SD1 according to established clinical protocols.
- Help patients feel comfortable throughout their treatment while maintaining professionalism and dignity.
- Explain what patients can expect before, during, and after treatment, and answer questions within the scope of the role.
- Accurately document treatments in the clinic's electronic medical record.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate ongoing treatment plans.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any maintenance concerns.
- Maintain clean, organized treatment rooms in accordance with infection prevention and clinic standards.
- Protect patient confidentiality and comply with PHIPA and all applicable privacy legislation.
- Support physicians and nurse practitioners with patient flow and treatment coordination.
- Educate patients on clinic-approved products, therapies, and wellness recommendations when appropriate.
- Contribute to a positive, welcoming experience for every patient from their first visit through the completion of treatment.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma is required.
- Post-secondary education in a healthcare-related field is considered an asset.
- International medical training or healthcare credentials are welcomed.
- Experience working in a medical clinic, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, chiropractic, or hospital setting is considered an asset.
- Experience operating therapeutic shockwave devices is preferred.
- Experience with the Storz Duolith SD1 is considered a strong asset.
- Experience providing direct patient care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Independent Contractor Requirements
As an Independent Contractor, you will:
- Provide services under an Independent Contractor Agreement.
- Maintain any professional credentials required for your background or designation.
- Carry professional liability insurance if applicable.
- Be responsible for your own income tax remittances and statutory deductions.
- Submit invoices in accordance with the terms of the contractor agreement.
- Follow all Vytalis Health Network clinical protocols, privacy standards, and policies while providing services.
Physical Requirements
- Standing for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to operate specialized medical equipment.
- Assisting patients with positioning during treatment.
- Comfort providing treatments involving direct contact with the male pelvic region while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, privacy, and patient dignity.
Compensation
- This is an Independent Contractor opportunity.
- Range of Compensation: $20.00 - $36.00 per hour.
- Hours are flexible depending on the need of the clientele and will be scheduled accordingly.
- Compensation will be discussed with successful candidates and will be based on experience and the terms of the contractor agreement.
- Training on Vytalis treatment protocols and the Storz Duolith SD1 will be provided.
