Camp Hurontario, a boys’ summer camp located on a beautiful island of the Georgian Bay, is looking to hire a swim instructor to join us for the summer of 2026. Leave the city behind and spend the summer teaching your passion to boys aged 5-16 in groups no larger than eight at a time, always assisted by two experienced summer camp counsellors.
Candidates must be 18+ and hold their Lifesaving Instructor and First Aid Instructor cerftifications to be considered for the position.
Being located on an island, Camp Hurontario is the ideal place to teach swimming. We have a large range of swim areas that cater to the different skill levels of our campers: shallow swim spots with beaches, roped off swim areas in the lake, diving towers, and sites for cliff-jumping.
During their sessions at camp, campers work towards their swim levels as set out by the Canadian Lifesaving Society. As a result, we are looking for candidates with their National Lifesaving award that are confident teaching the Bronze Star, Medallion and Cross courses. Having the additional Instructors Award is a plus; if you don't have this but are free to take the course between now and the beginning of June, the camp can assist with this.
Join our friendly co-ed staff of 110 to spend the summer making new friends and living with those who share your interest in working with children in a beautiful outdoor environment. Aside from your salary, full accommodation and all meals will be provided by the camp during the work term, which constitutes of July and August (with potential to work in June as well) of 2026.
To apply, please attach or send a CV and cover letter to the camp’s email, addressed to David Freel.
