Career Opportunity – Full-Time Residential Addiction Counsellor

Seven South Street Treatment Centre is a supportive, abstinence-based residential treatment program for men experiencing alcohol and drug addiction. We provide a structured, therapeutic environment where clients can focus on recovery, develop healthy coping strategies, and build a foundation for lasting change.

We are currently seeking a full-time Residential Addiction Counsellor who is passionate about supporting individuals in achieving meaningful, long-term recovery.

What You'll Do

As a Residential Addiction Counsellor, you will play an important role in supporting clients throughout their recovery journey.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Facilitating therapeutic group counselling sessions.
Providing individual counselling, including crisis intervention, support, guidance, and behavioural management.
Supporting clients in identifying and working toward their treatment goals.
Documenting client progress, participation, and responses to interventions in a clear and timely manner.
Maintaining accurate, complete, and up-to-date clinical records and reports.
Participating in weekly staff/clinical meetings, including contributing to progress updates and collaborative treatment planning.
Monitoring and documenting client self-administration of medications.
Supporting the safety, structure, and therapeutic environment of the residential program.
Observing and supporting client behaviour during daily living activities, social interactions, and recreational programming.
Supporting client accountability and adherence to program expectations and house guidelines.
Collecting urine samples and administering breathalyzer testing as required.
Working collaboratively with staff, referral sources, family members, and community partners to support client recovery.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will possess:

Post-secondary education at the college or university level, with additional certification or post-graduate education in Addictions. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and relevant lived experience may be considered.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing substance use and/or mental health counselling.
Strong group facilitation and individual counselling skills.
Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training.
The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professional boundaries and ethical standards.
