The Owen Sound Police Service has a requirement for a full-time on-site IT Technician. This position is responsible for installation and ongoing support of network, server and communication systems as well as end-user devices.
To be considered for this positions the applicant must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada; preferably have 2 or more years of experience in an IT role, possess a minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent (completion of a network/systems administration diploma is an asset); possess accurate and proficient computer and keyboarding skills; the ability to multi-task; be of good moral character and habits and have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted. They must also have strong interpersonal and decision-making skills. A valid G driver’s licence is required to complete tasks for travel to other sites in Ontario.
Duties
Job tasks include proficiency and confidence in the following items but are not limited to:
- Windows Server Active Directory/File Share Systems with Windows clients
- Maintaining asset control for IT items
- Management of Knowledge Base repository
- Support of mobile devices using a Mobile Device Management system
- Linux operating systems
- Administration of telephony and dispatch systems
- Installation and support of communications devices
- Coordination with external contractors and/or service providers
- Network installation and configuration including Cisco and Juniper devices using command line tools for switches, routers and firewalls
- Maintenance of servers utilizing Remote Management and Monitoring tools
- Server Virtualization
